Meet Our Mentees

Meet Ralph K and His College AppAssist Mentors, Samuel and Alexandria

Ralph and Sam were initially paired as the two shared interests of playing soccer and watching the English Premier League. While Sam studied abroad in London during the fall of 2013, Alexandria and Ralph met to work on college applications and essays over pizza and soda at the pizza shop by Brighton High School. The three have now worked through the financial aid application process and are proud to announce Ralph’s acceptances including those at Northeastern University, Boston College, UMass Boston, and UMass Dartmouth!

Meet Hafsa And Her College AppAssist Mentor, Eunice

From the very first exchange of emails, these two ladies had much in common from girly tv shows such as The Hills and Gossip Girl, to similar interests in school subjects such as history. Hafsa is also a big fan of Korean dramas and pop music, and it just so happened that Eunice had studied abroad in South Korea. Since the start of the school year they have been grabbing coffee at CafeNation in Brighton, Massachusetts to chat, edit college essays, and work on getting all of Hafsa’s applications in for early action. College AppAssist would like to congratulate Hafsa in her acceptance into Bridgewater State, Regis College, Framingham State, and a number of more colleges in the Boston area!

Meet Sadiya And Her College AppAssist Mentor, and Saania

From college essay brainstorming in the Brighton library and visits to the Copley library to talk SATs, to ice cream breaks at Coldstone and exploring shwarma spots on the Northeastern campus, Sadiya and Saania spent many hours finding a school Sadiya could realize her academic passions at, and be happy at. College AppAssist would like to congratulate Sadiya in her acceptance into Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Emmanuel College, and UMass-Boston, among other colleges in the Boston area! We look forward to following her continued successes.

Meet Javier And His College AppAssist Mentor, Joe

Javier and Joe represent College AppAssist’s first mentee-mentor pair stretching back to the spring of 2013. Remaining in contact today, these two connected early on topics such as growing up in the local area and similar likes (in some cases dislikes) for certain school subjects. Starting their relationship with a tour together of Boston University, they soon began meeting once a week on Wednesdays in the library of Brighton High School to cover everything from French homework, to the PSATs, SATs, appropriate school selection, financial aid applications and long term goal setting / career planning. Javier and Joe shared a special moment in June 2014 when Javier graduated from Brighton High and soon enrolled at Roxbury Community College. Continuing to work full-time in addition to studying, Javier remains focused on transferring to a select list of four-year public colleges where he hopes to pursue a degree in criminal law. College AppAssist is proud to have grown its outreach since beginning to work with Javier and is excited to see where he goes next on his successful life path!
